Laser Tattoo Removal

Laser tattoo removal is a professional procedure designed to eliminate unwanted tattoos and permanent makeup from the skin. Utilizing highly concentrated light beams, the laser targets pigment in the tattoo ink or cosmetic pigment without damaging the surrounding tissue. The laser breaks down the pigment particles into smaller fragments, which the body’s immune system gradually clears away over multiple treatment sessions.

For body tattoos, laser removal is effective on a wide range of colors and ink types, though some pigments like green and blue may require more sessions for complete clearance. The process typically involves a series of treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and pigment to fade progressively.

Currently, I am only able to remove small black tattoos and permanent makeup or microbladed eyebrow work

In permanent makeup removal, laser technology is adapted to treat highly delicate and sensitive skin areas such as eyebrows. Precision is essential to avoid damaging the natural skin pigments and to minimize discomfort. Depending on the pigment and depth of the permanent makeup, several sessions may be necessary for optimal results.

Both applications require a thorough consultation to assess tattoo size, pigment type, and skin condition. Post-treatment care is crucial to promote healing and reduce the risk of scarring or pigmentation changes. Laser tattoo removal offers a safe and effective option for those seeking to erase unwanted body tattoos or permanent makeup with minimal downtime.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS?

- The healing process following tattoo removal typically involves several stages and varies based on factors such as skin type, tattoo size, and removal method. Here's what to expect:

1. Immediate Aftercare

  • The treated area will be red, swollen, and may feel tender or warm.

  • You might notice blistering or scabbing, which is a normal part of the skin’s healing process.

  • Applying a cold compress and following all aftercare instructions provided by your technician is crucial.

2. Scabbing and Peeling

  • Scabs form to protect the skin as it heals; avoid picking or scratching to reduce the risk of scarring or infection.

  • Peeling or flaking of the skin may occur, signaling that damaged skin cells are shedding.

3. Fading Over Time

  • Tattoo ink breaks down and is flushed away by the body’s immune system, leading to gradual fading.

  • It can take several weeks post-treatment for fading to become noticeable.

4. Multiple Sessions Required

  • Complete removal often requires multiple treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart.

  • Healing time between sessions allows skin to recover fully.

5. Potential Side Effects

  • Mild redness, swelling, blistering, and dryness are typical.

  • In rare cases, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, or scarring may occur.

  • If experiencing increased pain, excessive redness, pus, or other signs of infection, contact your healthcare provider.

  • Histamine (allergy) reaction may occur due to the heat of the laser.

6. Long-Term Care

  • Protect treated skin from sun exposure by using broad-spectrum sunscreen to prevent pigmentation changes.

  • Maintain hydration and avoid harsh skin products on the area to support proper healing.

Understanding and following the proper aftercare routine significantly improves healing outcomes and reduces complications during the tattoo removal process.
